Welcome To Our College

Before the formation of Ranga Reddy District, Vikarabad was a part of Hyderabad District. Most educational institutions were concentrated in Hyderabad city, leaving students from rural and economically weaker sections with limited access to higher education.

Recognizing the need for quality education and healthcare facilities in this backward rural region, Dr. M. Channa Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and former Governor of Tamil Nadu, established Vikas Mandali, a voluntary organization, in 1965. Through the efforts of Vikas Mandali and the support of local leaders, farmers, traders, and philanthropists, the dream of providing higher education to the people of Vikarabad became a reality.

As a result, Sree Anantha Padmanabha Arts, Science & Commerce College was established in 1968. The college was named after Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy and is situated at the foothills of the picturesque Ananthagiri Hills. Spread across a serene campus of 43 acres, the institution provides an ideal environment for learning and personal growth.

Since its inception, the college has been committed to offering affordable and quality higher education to students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Vikarabad and neighboring districts.

The college was inaugurated on 31 July 1968 by Sri K. Brahmananda Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Initially, classes were conducted in the premises of Zilla Parishad High School, Vikarabad, due to the absence of a dedicated college building. Funds for the construction of the college infrastructure were raised through the efforts of Vikas Mandali, contributions from the Telangana Regional Committee, and cultural programs organized by renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and actress Chandrakala.

The first phase of the college building was completed in 1970, and the institution shifted to its present campus in December of that year. Over the years, the campus expanded significantly with the addition of classrooms, administrative blocks, a gymnasium, laboratories, and other academic facilities.

In 1988, Sri Marri Ravindra Reddy assumed charge as Chairman of the College Management Committee and initiated several developmental activities. During the Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1993–94, the foundations for additional infrastructure, including an administration building, gymnasium, classrooms, and canteen, were laid. The same year also witnessed the introduction of postgraduate courses in Commerce and Mathematics, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of the local community.

Following the demise of Dr. M. Channa Reddy in 1996, Sri Marri Ravindra Reddy became the President of Vikas Mandali and has continued to guide the institution's progress. The college also facilitated the establishment of an Osmania University Postgraduate Centre on its campus, including an MBA program.

Today, the college continues its mission of empowering students through quality education and contributing to the social and economic development of the region.
