The college is affiliated to Osmania University and permanent affiliation has been accorded in the year 1987. The college has been accredited with B++ in the year 2007 and re-accredited with B Grade in the year 2013 by NAAC. We are going for 3rd Cycle of NAAC in the year 2019.
The college is identified under sections 2(f) & 12B of the UGC Act, 1956. The College is a multi-faculty institution offering instruction in both the media, Telugu & English at Degree level in addition to PG in Commerce and Mathematics.
The College is located in a campus of 40 acres, healthily away from the town. The College has its own building comprising of 30 Class Rooms, 19 Laboratories, 8 Store Rooms, 5 Library Rooms, Gymnasium, Career Guidance Cell, Girls waiting room and a Canteen. There is a separate block comprising the Chairman’s chamber, Conference Hall, Principal's Chamber, Office, 3 staff rooms, NSS Room, NCC Room and Scholarships Room. An Air-cooled Seminar Hall with all modern amenities such as LCD projector, A.V. equipment is provided for conducting Extension Lectures, Staff Meetings, Literary and cultural competitions. There is a separate building to run PG Courses with all amenities.
The College was started with PUC in the year 1968 with a meager strength of 140 students. The present student strength of the College is almost 2000 out of which 700 are girls. Today, the College has on its acquittance roll 09 permanent Teaching Staff, 10 Non-Teaching Staff, besides 45 Part-Time Lecturers and 39 Part-Time Non-Teaching Staff.
The College has been rendering exemplary service to this backward area by providing the hitherto lacking avenue of Higher Education. It may not be out of place here to mention that our former students are working as Doctors, Engineers, Advocates, Judges, Principals, Teachers and Public Representatives and also working in different positions and some of our students have joined as regular staff members and some are working as Part-time Lecturers. Our staff members have pursued their Major and Minor Research Work with the UGC assistance. Five members have been awarded 'State Level Best Teacher Awards' by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in recognition of their distinguished service as teachers under the State Awards to meritorious teachers till today.
We have celebrated the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of our College in the year 1993-94. To mark the Silver Jubilee Celebrations, PG courses in Commerce and Mathematics were started during the year 1993-1994 fulfilling the long cherished desire of the people of this area. The foundation for the construction of Canteen, Administration building, Gymnasium and Class Room were laid down during Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the College and the construction of all the buildings comprising nearly 87680 SFT was completed by the Management of the College to provide better accommodation for the students. With the construction of additional class rooms, the College is now running in single shift.
This year we are going to celebrate Golden Jubilee Celebrations by completing 50 years under the guidance of Sri Marri Ravindra Reddy, President Vikas Mandali, Sri Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Chairman, Managing Committee, and its members in a grand manner. We are happy that the Centenary Birthday Celebrations of Dr. Marri Channa Reddy, Founder Chairman, Vikas Mandali, Vikarabad, also falls in the same year.
Besides academic education, co-curricular activities are also being pursued effectively. The College has three NCC Companies including Girls' Unit. Our Cadets have frequently participated in the Republic Day Parades at New Delhi, have achieved distinction in different areas of NCC, such as Parachute Training, Army attachment Course. Blood Donation Camps are conducted to mark the NCC day celebrations. The College bagged the Best Institution Award in the year 1988, awarded by the Directorate of NCC, Secunderabad.
The college has five NSS units, 3 units for boys and 2 units for girls which are taking up different activities of Social Service. Our NSS Volunteers represented Osmania University at Ganga Cleaning Camp in 1987 at Varanasi and were awarded as the Best Contingent among 13 participating Universities, for the services rendered. Our volunteers almost every year are participating in the Republic Day at New Delhi and various Adventurous Camps.
In the area of Physical Education the College has been equipping itself creditably. The campus has a spacious play ground where Indoor and Outdoor Games are played and coaching is imparted. Our students have represented the University Team in Volley Ball, Cross Country Race etc. Added to the above, a unique privilege that the College has a well equipped Gymnasium (Indoor Stadium).
The Managing Committee of the College is striving hard to achieve the main objective, i.e. providing Higher Education to students of this backward area of Vikarabad District.
